Updated 4pm Tuesday 5 August
Earlier today, a new and separate issue affected users who connect via the Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust (CHFT) data centre. This was caused by damage to Virgin Media cables. Re-routing was implemented as a priority, and connectivity has now been restored. The issue occurred around 13:40 and access restored from 14:50. Affected users were able to use business continuity plans during the disruption, and close monitoring remains in place.

We are pleased to confirm that GP practices across Bradford District and Craven have now regained full access to clinical and business systems following resolution of the significant technical issues that began on 28 July.
The disruption was caused by a failure in connectivity between data centres. Over the weekend, connectivity between the data centres was successfully restored, allowing the system to return to operational capacity with most applications functioning as expected from 7am Monday 4 August. The few remaining issues – included SMS text messaging – were resolved overnight on Tuesday 5 August.
This marks a significant step forward in system recovery, and practices have experienced improved IT performance from Monday morning. However, this does not mean an immediate return to business as usual for practices.
Practices face the challenge of working through a substantial administrative backlog caused by the outage. We ask for the public’s continued patience and understanding, particularly if you experience longer waits or delays over the coming days.
Throughout the incident, GP practices enacted their business continuity plans and used contingency access to clinical records to maintain safe patient care. We are incredibly grateful to all practice staff for their resilience, professionalism, and commitment to patients during this highly challenging period.
The incident remains under formal business continuity management, with regional and national support in place. A full review will follow once all remedial work is complete and the system is confirmed to be stable.
Corporate staff within the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board have also regained normal access to systems.
Watch Dr Junaid Azam, one of our local GPs, explaining what was happening and why your kindness and patience has been so important at this time.
