As leaders for the health and care partnership in Bradford District and Craven we want you to know that we appreciate all that you do and we know hard you are all working to meet the high levels of demand across all our services.
Towards the end of 2024 we saw a rise in people with flu coming into our emergency departments at Airedale and Bradford. This is also reflected in primary care as appointments are largely taken up by people with respiratory symptoms.
Alongside all of this, health and care services have been managing norovirus outbreaks and extreme weather, with community services braving the snow and ice and primary care teams keeping practices open.
We’ve been really impressed with the partnership working over such a busy period, with council colleagues opening beds in the community to help patients, who are fit for discharge, leave hospital.
It is not just our statutory services that have been responding to all that winter has to throw at us. We want to acknowledge the work of our dynamic voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector and the work of our independent care providers. We know that both the sectors are there for people when they may be at their most vulnerable and we know that without your support we would face even greater challenges.
To all our colleagues – and to the unsung carers and volunteers across our place – we want to say thank you again. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and we appreciate the effort all you put in to help our communities.
