Updated 1130am on Saturday 2 August.
GP practices across Bradford District and Craven continue to experience significant IT issues, which are affecting access to clinical systems used for appointments, records, and prescriptions. Despite this, practices remain open and are doing everything they can to care for patients safely, using contingency plans.
This was not a cyber incident and there is no evidence of any malicious activity. Patient information remains secure, and data has not been compromised at any stage. The disruption was caused by a technical failure affecting system connectivity, and recovery work has focused on restoring full access to clinical and business systems.
This weekend, our local technical experts from The Health Informatics Service (THIS) are working to resolve the issue with support from national and regional partners.
This means some planned weekend clinics have had to be rescheduled – we are sorry for the disruption this may cause and are incredibly grateful for the understanding and patience shown by patients and practice staff.
We hope practices will be back online from Monday morning, but it will take time to return to normal operations. Practices will need to prioritise urgent issues and work through the administrative backlog, so patients may continue to experience delays. We ask for your continued patience and kindness if things are operating more slowly than usual.
If you need urgent medical help and can’t contact your GP practice:
- Visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111
- Only attend A&E in the case of serious or life-threatening emergencies
If you or someone you care for runs out of medication and urgently needs a repeat, you can request one online at 111.nhs.uk/emergency-prescription or by calling 111.
We are working closely with local hospitals, NHS 111, the ambulance service, the voluntary and community sector, and care providers. They are all aware of the situation and working with us to help keep people safe and supported. We’ve made changes across the system to manage the impact of the outage so that patients continue to receive safe care across the district.
We will continue to provide updates as the situation develops. Thank you once again for your patience and for treating our NHS staff with care and respect during this difficult time.
Watch Dr Junaid Azam, one of our local GPs, explaining what is happening and why your kindness and patience is so important at this time.
We will continue to update this page as new information becomes available.
